CHOPS, 5 chopping boards from recycled plastic
2016, for INEKEHANS COLLECTION

CHOPS from recycled plastic were originally designed for an installation in the garden pavillion of the Dutch Royal Palace Soestdijk (see).
The material proved to be extremely suitable for chopping meat, vegetables, cheeses etc. And allthough we are rare meat eaters the appearance of the red/white plastic sheets reminded so much of minced meat and the looks of salami, sausages and other types of meat that we could not withstand the idea of using it this way as chopping boards in the shape of chops, hams, bacon, sausages or steak.

The recycled plastic is from the UK and I was already familiar with when she was developping her iconic recycled furniture range Ordinairy Furniture in 1997, also from recycled plastic. However I lost sight of it after that. Recently the production of it was started up again and there was a good opportunity to use the material.

A limited series of chops will be part of INEKEHANS COLLECTION till sold out.
