Tailoring Vases
2002, ceramics

For three months Ineke Hans worked at the European Ceramics Work Centre. She developed a number of ideas around the theme of reproduction.
Is it possible to get reproducible ceramic products in other ways than casting or turning?
The Tailoring vases are made as if tailoring clothes:
Clay that turns black after firing was rolled into sheets. Out of these sheets patterns were cut as if you would make a dress. The pieces were connected in a mould, resulting in two big black vases. The connections of the ‘patterns’ are bold and look more or less like folded seams.
