The Dutch SOFA Foundation awards grants to Dutch furniture designers starting out in their profession. In 2000 it celebrated its 10th anniversary with a grand exhibition in De Grote Kerk in The Hague. For this exhibition SOFA asked Ineke Hans to design an information desk.
This desk also had to be used as a desk for processing applicants before the exhibition started.
For visitors it was to be an information desk for the SOFA Foundation and its awarded designers.
Next to the design it needed to be possible to show the SOFA anniversary film.
On top of all that the desk had to be easy to move away at the weekends, to provide space to seat the audience of weekly organ concerts.
The result was a mobile wagon with a different function on each side. On the office and information side was: the SOFA office, the intake point for exhibitors, combined with the function of an information desk. There was a library with catalogues and background information on the designers for which two ergonomic easy felt chairs were made. The other side included practical notice board for reviews, news and the projection area for watching SOFA anniversary films.
