frontsidedetail vaseclosefrontround paper model

Hebban olla vogala nestas, tulipvase
2007, Gemeentemuseum Den Haag

The decoration is made by computer engraving, in a 3d shape.
It is totally decorated with trees, berries and birds. Some berries are cut out, to put flowers in the holes. Hebban olla vogala nestas are the first written dutch words found ever (±1100), talking about the love between birds.

When the first thoughts of a tulipvase exhibition 'Vases with sprouts' came up the Gemeente Museum, The Hague, asked Ineke tom design a tulipvase. If you see this vase at the small side, it looks like a classical vase shape. But the long, rectangle shape of the front makes it a real centerpiece.
