The edtions shown at ToolsGalerie started of from a ‘time-out’ period in which Ineke allowed herself to play with materials techniques and clichés for instance on 'cheap' and 'chic'. Shiny chrome and high-tech hospital material come together in Master Chair.
Earlier in 2006 Fracture Furniture came out at the Mayday for Playday exhibition, using a polyesther bandage that gets hard and superstrong in a short time. In Master Chair a similar material was used that stays flexible and is used for the seat.
The sitting surface - visually like a mummy - also reminds of old fashioned upholstered chairs waithing for foam and cover with only bands and cotton strips over the springs that will give comfort to the chair.
