REPORT popup installation #XL2 V&A: cuckoo eggs

rethinking and updating furniture at V&A for 2017 and beyond
2016, Installation in Victoria & Albert museum during London Design Festival

A pop up expo from 17-25 Sept. 2016. For this installation Ineke acted as a temporary curator of the permanent display in the V&A Furniture Galleries during LDF 2016. A trail of 16 comments and drawings were spread around the galleries, responding to the furniture on show and rethinking and updating the V&A's Furniture Galleries for 2017 and beyond.

The past, present and future of furniture design were related to changes that take place in our society today and to Ineke's 2015/'16 salon research (see). Texts and drawn interventions were placed in the Galleries as cuckoo eggs and to be found as easter eggs:
- from the first furniture catalogues of Chippendale to flat pack online production in 2019
- from Eileen Gray and privacy to Thonet and digital production
- from Orkney chairs to innovation and hybrid design
