XL-salon #3-2: Furniture & the future, designer's perspectives

To wrap up the Salon projects two Last London Salons will take place in and in association with Brompton Design District focussing on its theme: Other Stories, alternative perspectives in design.Speakers are invited who explore alternative routes for design and designers that specifically look into this and actively design from different perspectives.

Models for Social Design - Designer's Perspectives

This talk will focus on the perspectives of designers who look into alternative design approaches, who work on projects that explore different models for design and cooperate on social projects.
Panellists:
- Ilse Crawford (founder of Studio Ilse, designer for Zanat, St. Cuthberts Community)
- Ineke Hans (founder London Salons) designer for People of the Sun and Fogo Island Inn)
Moderator: Johanna Agerman Ross (curator contemporary and 20th century design V&A, writer and founder of disegno magazine, see)

Ilse Crawford - studio Ilse
Ilse Crawford is a designer, academic and creative director with a mission to put human needs and desires at the centre of all that she does. As founder of Studioilse, she designs interiors, furniture and products that support and enhance human behaviour and actions in everyday life and aims to restore the human balance in brands and businesses that have lost their way. Ilse worked on various projects that have impact on communities a.o. Friends of Arnold Circus, Zanat, St. Cuthberts Community. www.studioilse.com

Ineke Hans - studio inekehans
Ineke Hans designs industrial furniture and products, as well as handmade objects for leading manufacturers. She combines traditional and current open source production playing with the interactions between humans, objects and space.In 2016 she started London Salons where she explored 'the future of furniture desing and the changing position of the designer'. She aims for a more social and active approach of designers and designed products for the Fogo Island Inn and People of the Sun. www.inekehans.com
